Welcome to the first newsletter for Global Azure Bootcamp 2017.
GLOBAL AZURE BOOTCAMP
SATURDAY 22 APRIL 2017
Every year we try to find the best date we can to help maximize the number of you that are able to attend an event. This year is no exception, and we chose this date as it is not near any major public holidays. We hope that all you awesome people who have helped run events in previous years, and any new awesome folks who want to run one this time, can come together and make the 2017 edition, which also happens to the fifth time this has run, our best yet.
Please contact the team via the Contact form with any questions you may have.
Why is my event still Pending?
This year the rules for your event remain the same, and we have some information on the FAQ page on why an event remains Pending.
Essentially for a location to be Confirmed all the information about your event and location needs to be provided including a URL that provides either a registration page or information about your event. Having a web location set up that describes your event allows for potential attendees to contact you and having registration ready tells us you are ready to go.
But don’t worry, having an event as Pending means we still know about it so it won’t be removed or disabled.
There are many sites that allow you to set up free event registration such as Eventbrite or Event Day, and remember you can also host a free website on Azure to help promote your event.
What offers are there going to be this year?
As usual, if you wish to provide your attendees with any physical giveaways like stickers, we suggest that organizers contact their local Microsoft Sales or Developer Experience teams to see if they are able to provide swag for your event. If you don’t have a local Microsoft contact, we can always help you finding one (via the Contact form). Additionally, if you are able to obtain local sponsorship then these can often be another good source of swag.
We will still have digital giveaways provided by Global Azure Bootcamp sponsors that organizers can provide to their event attendees, so watch this space for announcements on those.
Community of Communities
This year we are aiming to do something a little different. As part of our ongoing commitment to this great global community of Azure practitioners we are looking to help provide a bridge between those that wish to organize and run events, and those that want to attend and speak. For this reason, we are asking for a couple of pieces of additional information this year, the name of your community and a web address for your community to help direct people that want to reach out and be part of this global effort.
We are in the process of looking at how we do this so look out for another announcement soon that will outline in more detail what we are going to do.
Last year we lost our main source for providing a science lab on the day and were unable to sort out another lab sponsor before the main event.
We’re sorry we couldn’t bring a lab to you, and this year we are already working hard with several people and organizations to make sure we can deliver one this time.
Again, keep your eyes on the site or look out for an announcement when we have finally locked in our science lab for Global Azure Bootcamp 2017.
That about wraps up the newsletter, we’re really looking forward to working with and helping all our organizers for Global Azure Bootcamp #5. You guys are awesome! You make the event the success it is and as always if you have questions or suggestions just drop the team a line via the Contact form and we’ll get back to you.
